  • Colorado River Flood Guide

    Colorful brochure about the Highland Lakes and dams, and how LCRA balances operating the lakes and dams for both flood management and water supply.

  • The Lower Colorado River User's Guide

  • Planning Handbook for Rural Texas Communities
    This 83-page resource shows how a rural community can use planning to advance its interests. To order a printed copy, contact ecodev@lcra.org. There may be a charge.
  • River Keepers
    Full color 28-page booklet that traces the relationship of activities in the Colorado River watershed to water quality and outlines the steps to help maintain healthy conditions for the future.

  • A Run unto the Sea: The Adventures of the Abilene Boys
    Walter Cronkite narrates this story about three adventurers who relive a 600-mile, 28-day canoe trip down the Texas Colorado River -- a repeat of an adventure they had as teen-agers in 1937. (1992, 55 min.)
  • Anatomy of an Outage (1996, 10 1/2 min.)
    Go behind the scenes to LCRA's Systems Operations Control Center and into the field with the crews who respond first when power is lost.
  • Colorado River Trail
    Tommy Lee Jones, a native of San Saba, takes you on a journey down the Colorado River Trail that runs through the Texas Hill Country to the Gulf of Mexico. (1992, 8 min.)
  • Footprints in Time
    Tour LCRA's Nightengale Archaeological Center at Kingsland, the only educational facility in Central Texas totally dedicated to teaching children and adults about prehistoric cultures in Texas. (8:28)
  • Get to the Point! (1993, 12 1/2 min.)
    Mr. Technology, his young assistant Timmy and the Rain Fairy -- a.k.a. the comedy team of Esther's Follies -- learn about nonpoint-source pollution and how to prevent it. This program is for school audiences or for anyone who enjoys a tongue-in-cheek approach to a serious subject.
  • Illegal Dumping: Victimizing Texas (1994, 17 min.)
    This video, produced for law-enforcement officials, shows how to deal with illegal trash dumping.
  • Innovative Stormwater Runoff Practices (1997, 7 min.)
    This program looks at the filtration ponds and collection systems built into LCRA's office complex to handle rainfall runoff from parking lots before it is returned to the Colorado River.
