LCRA’s 2012 calendar focuses on some special scenes that make the Colorado River of Texas and its lakes and tributaries a special place for so many people. This year’s featured locations offer a break from many folks’ daily routine. Each location is, to quote the pop song from years ago, “a quiet place” where folks can “find relief at last, out in the country.”
The locations span the lower Colorado River basin, from LCRA’s Canyon of the Eagles Nature Park at Lake Buchanan to the mouth of the river at Matagorda Bay. They showcase the basin’s natural beauty and are part of the river system that LCRA has served and protected for more than 75 years.
More than a million people depend on the Colorado River for the water they need. But they also love the scenery, the flora and fauna, and the activities that make the river and its lakes and tributaries even more special. We hope this year’s calendar will increase your appreciation of the basin’s beauty and encourage you to seek out your own favorite spots – either at one of the more than 40 LCRA parks or at other locations – where you can, in the words of the song, “stand alone and take back somethin’ worth rememberin’.”
