Illegal dumping degrades water quality

Billboards like this one will appear throughout the lower Colorado River watershed as part of a campaign against illegal dumping.

Illegally dumped items have been found polluting the Colorado River watershed. These include lead acid batteries, appliances, household garbage, building materials, vehicles, old tires, waste drums and chemicals such as paint, oil and antifreeze.

To help fight illegal dumping in the Colorado River watershed, LCRA has partnered with the Capital Area Council of Governments, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Matagorda County Crime stoppers.
