Wholesale Power Services makes this possible through its network of power generation and support facilities, combined with expert engineering support, experienced energy traders and a range of services designed to help retail providers provide even more value to consumers. LCRA Wholesale Power Services staff also works with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to help develop and refine market guidelines for public power entities.

Well-rounded power portfolio
LCRA's power plant staff focuses on providing affordable power safely while protecting the environment. LCRA's power generation portfolio includes two traditional natural gas-fired power plants, one coal-fired plant, a combined-cycle gas-fired plant, six hydroelectric dams and long-term purchase contracts from three West Texas wind farms. Additional long- and short-term purchases from other ERCOT suppliers round out the energy mix LCRA provides its wholesale electric customers.

LCRA's unique Price $elect^® program offers wholesale customers a range of pricing options so they can select what works best for their electric systems — whether they serve 5,000 consumers or 50,000. This helps each LCRA customer provide the best possible prices for their retail consumers — the people and businesses of Central Texas.
