The LCRA offers protective equipment testing (PET) at its state-of-the-art lab in Austin.
LCRA has been testing its own equipment for almost 50 years. It opened this service to others in 1990 and now has more than 140 customers. Some have occasional needs. Others submit equipment regularly as part of an ongoing safety program. Orders range from a single piece of protective equipment to crates of them.
If it’s used to keep your crews safe, the LCRA PET Lab can make sure it’s free of dangerous defects.
Skilled technicians can test:
gloves;
sleeves;
blankets;
line hoses;
covers;
hot sticks and other live line tools;
plastic guards;
by-pass jumpers;
portable grounding jumpers.
LCRA PET Lab technicians test each glove with electrically charged water and inflate each one with air in the search for dangerous defects.
