Water Forum to continue providing timely news and information on water utilities in region
Dec. 20, 2004

The issues raised over the proposal to provide water utility service in the Hamilton Pool Road area were heard "loud and clear," according to a letter from LCRA Board Chair Ray Wilkerson in the latest issue of Water Forum.

As a result, LCRA Board and staff are responding with a number of efforts designed to maintain the area's water quality and help residents grapple with regional growth issues.

Examples:

  • Water service contracts between LCRA and four landowners specify that LCRA will provide water service only if new developments comply with strict water-quality protection measures.
  • Contract provisions also require water quality monitoring during the construction phase. (See story on the contracts and links to videos from the Board meeting.)
  • LCRA staff is investigating improving its ordinances to regulate nonpoint-source pollution.
  • LCRA will explore how to provide existing area homeowners with long-term funding options that make service more affordable.
  • LCRA will continue to support regional planning efforts dedicated to maintaining the area's quality of life.
How can you stay abreast of these and other developments? Subscribers of Water Forum can watch their e-mail inboxes. LCRA will address these and other ongoing issues in future editions. LCRA is committed to providing the public with the latest info on issues concerning water utilities, water quality and water supply in this region.
