LCRA signs water service contracts
Dec. 20, 2004

LCRA General Manager Joe Beal has signed four contracts committing the river authority to the design and construction of a surface water line to serve four properties totaling about 1,300 acres along Hamilton Pool Road. Contracts include strict water quality measures for subdivision construction, landscape design and irrigation and pest management.

Beal signed the contracts after a specially called meeting of the LCRA Board of Directors on Dec. 7. Following three hours of public comment, the Board authorized staff to negotiate contracts to extend water service along Hamilton Pool Road in western Travis County to several landowners/developers who had requested the service.

LCRA signed contracts with the following:

  • McHargue Family II, Ltd. (Rocky Creek Subdivision)
  • William L. Formby
  • BRSJ, Ltd., (Madrone Ranch), and
  • Rusty and Beth Ann Signor

In taking the action, the Board approved a resolution that also specifies that LCRA will provide water service to the landowners only if proposed new development complies with strict water-quality protection measures.

LCRA also will act as the retail water service provider to these properties.

LCRA will soon begin engineering and design work of a pipeline along Hamilton Pool Road. Engineering and design studies will take about six months to complete. Staff will return to the Board with a recommendation for the size of the pipeline. Construction on the pipeline is expected to take about 18 months.

Staff also will continue working on a plan to serve residents of existing homes that could be served by an extension of the pipeline.
