Lower Colorado Regional Water Planning Group (Region K)
South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group (Region L)
Texas has 16 regional planning groups that identify future water shortages and strategies to meet them. Region K includes the lower Colorado River basin and Region L includes the San Antonio area.
Both planning groups have included the project as a water supply strategy in their regional plans, which are updated every five years. The planning groups will continue to evaluate the project during the ongoing water planning process.
Texas Water Development Board
The Texas Water Development Board provides leadership, planning, financial assistance, information, and education for the conservation and responsible development of water for Texas. The board is responsible for long-term water planning in Texas and oversees the regional water planning process.
The board also is responsible for all aspects of groundwater studies in the state, and monitors water levels and quality in the state's aquifers, conducts regional-scale aquifer modeling, and house and maintain water well records. The board approves groundwater districts' management plans.
At the request of Region K, the board is providing technical review and feedback on a groundwater availability model being developed for the project.
