Fishing 101

First time to go fishin'? Not a problem.
Here are a few things you'll need to get started.

Good beginner rods:
Spincast rod
Spinning rod

Basic tackle:
Hooks of different sizes
Weights
Bobber
Artificial bait or live bait

Fishing license:
Recreational fishing licenses are available at many locations such as sporting goods stores, discount stores, bait and tackle shops and grocery stores. For more information, visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Web site.

Find large bass and places to camp at:
Lake Bastrop - North Shore
Lake Bastrop - South Shore
Lake Fayette - Oak Thicket
Lake Fayette - Prairie Park

Be safe:
Dress appropriately – bring a jacket, rain gear and weather radio so that you are prepared for unpredictable weather.

Tune into the hourly broadcasts of lake and river conditions provided by NOAA All Hazards Radio. For all locations downstream of Austin, tune into AM 1670.
