If you’re a previous Currents subscriber, you’ll see a new design and more variety in this issue. If you haven’t gotten Currents before but subscribed to Land Online or Water Forum, this new newsletter replaces those.

The goal of Currents mirrors the goal of LCRA: to help improve the quality of life for the people of Texas. LCRA does this in many ways. We watch over the quality of water in the Colorado River. Our dams help protect life and property during flooding. The lakes formed by the dams supply drinking water to hundreds of thousands, attract tourists, and support the region’s agricultural economy. Our parks provide access to the lakes and the river and a fun place to enjoy the outdoors. We teach people about the importance of conservation and how to save water – and money. And we make and deliver the electricity that keeps the lights on and the air conditioners running in the cities and electric cooperatives we serve.

All these services are geared at making your life better by providing a healthy infrastructure, clean water and access to recreation and the outdoors. That’s the goal of Currents, too. You’re busy, so our stories are short. You want tips on how to make your life easier and better, and our experts can help. You’ll learn about neat, nearby places to visit and fun things to do.

We think this is helpful, but, really, you’re the final judge. Please let us know what you like, what you don’t like, and what’s missing. We’ll keep tweaking until we get it right.

Thanks for reading.
