LCRA reports sewage spill in Bastrop County

For Immediate Release: April 03, 2008 12:00 AM

AUSTIN – LCRA has repaired a break in a Camp Swift Regional Wastewater System line that broke April 3, discharging about 47,150 gallons of untreated sewage into Lake Tuck, a small private lake in rural Bastrop County.

LCRA operators received notification of the spill from the plant's alarm system around 10 a.m. LCRA notified the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and local officials of the spill. There was no threat to a water supply and the spill was too small to meet the criteria outlined by TCEQ for public notification. Therefore, area residents do not need to boil water or take any other actions.

LCRA continues to investigate the cause of the line break and will monitor conditions of the private 24-acre lake and nearby Piney Creek.
