Open Letter from LCRA General Manager

For Immediate Release: July 27, 2010 04:45 PM

Here is an open letter to residents of the Hill Country from LCRA General Manager Tom Mason.

The letter concerns an application LCRA Transmission Services Corporation will file at the Public Utility Commission on Wednesday, including possible routes for a new 345-kilovolt transmission line across parts of the Hill Country.

The filing is an amendment to a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity concerning transmission lines LCRA TSC is charged with building. The lines will bring wind-generated power from West Texas (an area known as Competitive Renewable Energy Zones, or CREZ) to more populated areas of the state.

The application to be filed Wednesday is for a line known as McCamey D to Kendall to Gillespie and will connect a substation to be constructed near McCamey with stations in Kendall and Gillespie counties.
