Day on the Bay Wetland Kayaking Trip (preregistration required)
Enjoy the tranquility of East Matagorda Bay. This guided kayak adventure is ideal for amateur and professional kayakers with an interest in birding, kayaking, and nature. Park provides kayaks and related equipment along with instruction. Adults and children ages 8 and up, children aged 8-13 must be in tandem with an adult.
Cost: $50 per person with equipment rental. $25 per person without equipment rental. Dates: Saturdays, Sept. 5, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21, Dec. 19 and Feb. 6 TIme: 9 am-12 pm
Adventures in Beach Combing (preregistration required) Everyone enjoys walking on the beach and finding marine mysteries. Come explore the beach with one of our knowledgeable facilitators and be amazed at what is on the beach and in the dunes of Matagorda. There is definitely more to the beach than meets the eye. Take a walk on the beach and discover the wonders of Matagorda Bay.

Wings over the Wetlands (preregistration required)
Interested in birds but don’t want to take an ornithology course? Join our park staff for a beginners program on birding. Enjoy the one of the nation's top birding spots as you view seasonal birds over the tranquil wetlands of Matagorda Bay.
Cost: $10 per person, all ages Dates: Saturdays, Oct. 24, Dec. 12 and Feb. 20 TIme: 8-10 am
Fins, Furs, and Feathers(preregistration required)
Do you want to know the difference between a fin and a flipper? Which feathers provide the most warmth? What furry animals live along the Gulf Coast? If so, then this program is for you! We will bring you up close and personal with some of the animals of our Texas coast as you discover their place in the food web, what habitat they call home and facts about their biology and behavior. The program’s presenter is a Gulf Coast Wildlife Rehabilitator who rescues, rehabilitates and releases back into the wild a wide variety of animals.

Nature Scavenger Hunt (preregistration required)
Ever wonder how to use a compass or navigate with a Global Positioning System Unit? After learning how to manipulate these pieces of navigational equipment get ready for some fun. This exciting GPS adventure will guide you to numerous eco-stations. You will venture from the beach to the coastal plains and walk away with a better understanding of how to use these traveler’s tools while acquired interesting coastal information.
