A boat ramp, 12 campsites, and picnic facilities make Park Prairie a comfortable base for recreation at Lake Fayette, a 2,000-acre cooling lake for the Fayette Power Project.

Campsites are tent camping only. There is no water or electricity at the campsites. Ground fires are prohibited. Restrooms are available; there are no shower facilities. A group camping area will accommodate up to 24 people, and is ideal for reunions and meetings. It includes: a screened shelter (sleeps four) with electricity, three campsites, picnic tables, and a grill. See map of the park. (This requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. Get a free reader.)

Fees: Entry is $4 per person over 14 and $3 for people 65 and over. There are additional fees for use of camping and shelter facilities. See fees and facilities.

Reservations: Reservations for Park Prarie facilities can be made by calling Texas Parks and Wildlife Reservation Center at (512) 389-8900 more than 48 hours in advance. There is a $5 service charge for LCRA reservations made through TPW. To make reservations less than 48 hours in advance, call the park at (979) 249-3504.

Park Prairie Park is on the north shore of Lake Fayette approximately 10 miles outside of La Grange.

How to get there: From Houston, take State Highway 290 West into Hempstead. In Hempstead take Business Highway 159 into Fayetteville. From Highway 159 turn onto Park Prarie Road.

From Austin, take State Highway 71 East to Business Highway 159. Turn left onto Highway 159. Proceed on Highway 159 and turn right on Park Prarie Road to the park entrance.
