Learning is an adventure at McKinney Roughs

All programs take place at McKinney Roughs Nature Park.

Pollinator Power

Homeschool Day – Junior Birding Basics

Discover bird migration through a hands-on adventure using a map and compass. Students chart a course to arrive at learning stations that simulate the Gulf Coast bird migration route. These learning stations demonstrate how birds adapt to survive. Students then participate in a Bird BioBlast – a fun group scavenger hunt to find and identify a variety of birds. Children should dress for the outdoors and bring a packed lunch, refillable water bottle and sunscreen. Parents may observe programs at the park but must find an alternative activity for siblings younger than the minimum age. Advanced registration is required.

  • Ages 8 and older.
  • $25 per person.
