What is a park host?
Volunteer park hosts give visitors their first impression of LCRA parks. They provide hospitality to visitors and promote safe use of park facilities. They also give valuable insight on customer experiences and impressions to park staff through their daily contact with visitors.

What are some of the duties of a park host

  • Greet campers, answer their questions and orient them to the park and region.
  • Understand and be able to explain park rules and regulations to campers. Don't enforce them.
  • Be accessible to campers for comments and complaints.
  • Serve as a gate attendant as needed.
  • Check windshields for passes to ensure park fees are paid.
  • Assist with campground maintenance: pick up litter, clean campsites after guests check out, replenish rest room supplies and assist in keeping the bathrooms clean.
  • Contact park staff and/or other law enforcement personnel about park emergencies.
  • Set example for others by keeping host site clean and neat.
  • Other projects or assignments based on park needs and hosts' skills and interests.

What are the benefits of being a park host?
In exchange for 25 hours of work a week per site, park hosts have:

  • RV hook-up with electric, water and cement pad for RVs .  Most sites will also provide septic hook-up.
  • Daily use of park facilities, such as water access, fishing piers, boat docks, hiking, etc.
  • Opportunities for relaxing, hiking, swimming, wildlife observation and fishing (state law requires a fishing license from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department)
  • Nearby shopping, entertainment and sightseeing in the Hill Country and Central Texas

Note: No salary is provided.

How are park hosts selected?
Park hosts must have their own RV, and are selected based on:

  • Camping experience
  • Prior campground or park host experience
  • Experience working with the public
  • Length of time willing to be a park host
  • Other skills that match park needs
  • Background checks are required at LCRA's expense.
