History buffs will revel in this area, used for centuries by travelers crossing the river. Today, it features a day-use park operated by Colorado County, (979) 732-2604. The access point is Columbus, just off U.S. 90, left on the Colorado. Facilities include picnic areas, group picnic shelter, and a waterfront fishing pier. There is no boat ramp, but the sandy beach provides access to the river for launching canoes and other light watercraft.
