Recently students at Fredericksburg Middle School had the opportunity to experience the POWERHOUSE energy investigation program. The program was sponsored by the City of Fredericksburg and Central Texas Electric Co-op (CTEC).
Each student received an 8-page energy investigation guide to take home and fill out with their parents. The investigation guide asks questions that allow students to perform an energy audit on their home.
From the investigation guide data, students receive a four-page personalized report that shows them how they can save money and help conserve natural resources. The report also has tips and savings on how to save money on their electric bills.
The four-page personalized report also lists patterns of energy use, comparisons with state average households, and energy and water savings tips.

Students learned from the program that they can save electricity by using compact fluorescent lighting and save 50% of their homes water useage by using low flow devices.

A "Jeopardy" type game is played as a review for a quiz that goes along with the program.
