The POWERHOUSE energy investigation program was sponsored for B.T. Wilson 6th grade school by Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB), Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) and Central Texas Electric Co-op (CTEC).

Each student received an 8-page energy investigation guide which they took home to perform a home energy audit with the help of their parents. The guide asked questions about their homes' energy and water use.

|
|
As a result of the home energy investigation, students received a personalized four-page report. From this report students learned how the environment is impacted by their households' use of energy. The report also has tips and savings on how to reduce their energy and water cost.

|
|
Students learn that low-flow devises like low-flow showerheads, faucet aerators and low flush toilets can save up to 50% of their household's water usage.
|
|
|
|
|
Students also learn that shading such as solar screens, porches, trees and shrubs can also help lower their utility bills.
|
|
|
|
|
Compact fluorescent can reduce the amount of electricity is used in their household. Therefore, helping save our natural resources and our enviroment.
|
|
|
|
|
