The POWERHOUSE energy investigation program was brought to La Grange Middle School by the City of La Grange and Fayette Electric Cooperative (FEC).

Students receive an 8-page energy investigation booklet to take home and fill out with their parent's assistance. The investigation booklet asks students questions about their home's energy and water use.

Each student receives a 4-page personalized report based on their answers to the energy investigation booklet. The report shows students what areas of their homes are using the most energy and water. The personalized report helps students and their families see how they can help conserve resources by recommending ways to save energy and water.

Students learn that using compact fluorescent lighting and shading, such as solar screens, trees, shrubs, and porches can help reduce their energy cost.
