The POWERHOUSE energy investigation program was brought to Hallettsville Junior High School by the City of Hallettsville, Fayette Electric Cooperative (FEC), Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) and San Bernarad Electric Cooperative (SBEC).

Each student received an 8-page energy investigation guide which they took home to perform a home energy audit with the help of their parents. The guide asked questions about their homes' energy and water use.

As a result of the home energy investigation, students received a personalized four-page report.

The report shows students their energy and water usage with tips and savings on how to reduce their energy and water cost.

Students learn that compact fluorescent lighting and low-flow showerheads are some of the ways they can reduce the electricity and water used in their household.

Students learn that shading with porches, solar screens and trees and shrubs can help save electricity.

Thank you City of Hallettsville, FEC, GVEC and SBEC for sponsoring POWERHOUSE for our school. It was a fun way to learn how to save electricity and water for our families.
