This 12-hour state-approved course covers safe navigation, required equipment, federal and state laws for all types of boating including personal watercraft. You will receive hands-on training on the use of printed and digital charts for plotting a course. You will earn a USPS completion certificate and are eligible for a Texas Parks and Wildlife Boater Education Certificate.
Anyone born on or after Sept. 1, 1984 must take a boater education class before they can legally operate a boat or personal watercraft powered by a motor of 10 or more horsepower, or a sailboat that is more than 14 feet in length. Those age 18 or older are exempted from the law.
