Utility systems under drought watering restrictions

Central Texas is experiencing a severe drought that has persisted since September 2007. As hot and dry weather patterns continue, utilities in the lower Colorado River basin are implementing their drought plans and asking or requiring customers to follow watering restrictions. Find out what restrictions apply in your community.

Residential Wastewater Customers

LCRA averages the water usage during the months of December, January and February for the wastewater re-average. Turn off your irrigation systems and limit outdoor water usage to help lower your wastewater bill for the next year. The new wastewater average will be reflected on your April 2010 bill. For questions about winter re-averaging, please contact customer service at 877-718-4396.

West Travis County Regional water system

Due to ongoing drought conditions, customers of LCRA's West Travis County Regional Water System are still under the mandatory twice-weekly watering schedule until further notice. However, we recommend that customers turn off their irrigation systems during the winter months to save on outdoor watering.

LCRA operates more than three dozen water and wastewater systems throughout Central Texas. Follow the links for more information:

Water conservation
Even a slow household water leak of just 15 drops per minute quickly adds up: That amounts to 2.16 gallons a day, 64.8 gallons a month and 788.6 gallons a year. Learn more and get a link to a WaterWiser Drip Calculator at tips for saving water in the water conservation section.

Sprinkler panelSchedule a free landscape irrigation checkup
LCRA retail water customers qualify for a free checkup of their landscape irrigation system. During an about two-hour evaluation, a landscape professional will evaluate your watering needs, create a new watering schedule tailored to your landscape and teach you how to use the sprinkler system controls to better manage the water-saving schedule. We also provide a free rain sensor. To schedule a checkup, call 1-877-718-4396.
