After a Dec. 7, 2004 special Board meeting, LCRA approved contracts with landowners along Hamilton Pool Road in western Travis County for water service. Landowners asked LCRA to build a water line to supply treated water to existing and proposed developments. The water would come from LCRA's regional water treatment plant that serves western Travis County and parts of Hays County.
In taking the action, the LCRA Board of Directors approved a resolution that also specifies that LCRA will provide water service to the landowners only if the proposed new developments comply with strict water-quality protection measures developed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. These measures were designed specifically for the Barton Springs-Edwards Aquifer watershed.
