Updating the 2015 Water Management Plan
LCRA is in the process of amending the 2015 Water Management Plan.
In 2018, LCRA held a series of meetings with LCRA customers and other interested groups to develop an amended plan. In December 2018, the LCRA Board of Directors approved changes to the plan.
On Feb. 28, 2019, LCRA staff submitted the application to amend the plan to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for approval. View the application.
The proposed Water Management Plan amendment:
- Maintains combined storage in lakes Buchanan and Travis above 600,000 acre-feet through a repeat of historic hydrology.
- Includes hydrology through 2016.
- Updates demands through 2025.
- Meets firm demands without shortage through a repeat of historic hydrology.
- Retains the current three-tier framework for interruptible agricultural curtailment that considers storage and inflow conditions, plus the use of a look-ahead test.
- Includes provisions to protect environmental flows.
