Timmerman Power Plant

Timmerman Power Plant Unit 1 is now online and available to provide about 190 megawatts of dispatchable generation to the Texas power grid. Read Gov. Greg Abbott’s Aug. 20, 2025, news release on Unit 1 connecting to the grid.

The second unit is expected to be operational in 2026. Unit 2 will supply about 190 megawatts of power, bringing the plant’s total capacity to about 380 megawatts. When operating at full capacity, the plant will be able to supply enough electricity to power more than 100,000 homes.

How is this plant benefiting Texans?

As more people and businesses move to Texas, the state needs more dispatchable power that can be available quickly during times of peak demand. The natural gas-fueled Timmerman Power Plant is a peaker plant that can ramp up and shut down in minutes, providing power when it is needed the most.

The plant is located in Caldwell County near Maxwell and adds to LCRA’s diverse generation portfolio.
