Quiet Weather Continues into Early Next Week. A Chance for Rain Developing Late Week

Quiet, fall-like weather continues across the region as we close out the workweek. With dry air in place, nighttime temperatures this week have been mostly in the 50s, with some 40s noted across the Hill Country and parts of Central Texas. More pleasant nighttime temperatures are forecast over the weekend and next week. Meanwhile, high temperatures look to continue mostly in the low and middle 80s. Fortunately, there are no 90-degree temperatures in the forecast looking out into nearly November.

Friday’s weather maps showed a broad, stable ridge of high pressure in the middle and upper atmosphere stretching from northern Mexico, across Texas, and up to the middle Mississippi Valley. A large trough of low pressure was located across the western U.S. with a second trough located along the U.S. East Coast. This weekend, the ridge over Texas is forecast to still be over most of the state, causing continued dry and quiet weather. However, the ridge is forecast to slowly shift to the east late Sunday into Monday, and this will allow the western trough to lift northeast to the Plains states. The trough is expected to bring widespread rain to Far West Teas and the Panhandle region Sunday into early next week but will be too far north to bring any rain to Central Texas.

Around the middle of the week, additional troughs of low pressure are forecast to begin pushing inland the coast of southern California and these next systems do look to have the potential to bring a chance for rain to much of Central and South Texas late next week into next weekend.

This Weekend

Expect a sunny to mostly sunny sky. High temperatures both days are predicted to be in the low and mid-80s, with upper 80s across the coastal region. Lows Saturday, Sunday, and Monday mornings will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Next Monday through Tuesday

Expect a partly cloudy sky Monday through Tuesday as the western trough moves off to the northeast, pulling clouds and some moisture into Central and South Texas. There will be a slight chance for a few light rain showers across the coastal region and the western Hill Country on Tuesday. Rain amounts, if any, should only total around a tenth of an inch. High temperatures both days are predicted to be in the low 80s, with lows in the low 60s.

Next Wednesday

Expect a mostly sunny sky and dry weather with high temperatures in the low and middle 80s.

Thursday through Next Weekend

Expect a mostly cloudy through the period as moisture increases off the Gulf. Forecasts call for a series of low pressure troughs to begin pushing across Texas out of northern Mexico and the Desert Southwest. There will be slight chance for rain showers Thursday, followed by a somewhat better chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms Friday into the following weekend. No significant change in the temperature is forecast, with highs remaining in the low and mid-80s, with lows in the low and mid-60s.

Tropical Weather Update

Weather conditions are currently quiet across the Gulf, the Caribbean Sea, and the tropical Atlantic. There are no systems in place which pose a threat for tropical development over the next seven days.

October Full Moon Sunday Night/Monday Morning

The full Hunter’s moon — October’s traditional full moon — will turn full at 11:11 am CDT on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. Named for the time of year when hunters historically took advantage of bright moonlight after harvest, it’s the second full moon of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. Although the moon won’t technically be full until Monday morning, look for a very bright moon Friday and Saturday nights.

Have a great weekend!
