2027 benefits options for retirees ages 65 and older

Retirees ages 65 and older do not have access to LCRA’s group medical and prescription drug plan.

Note: Retirees who cover a child(ren) on LCRA’s retiree medical and prescription coverage, can continue participation until they no longer carry a child(ren) on the plan or their child turns 26, however, are still required to enroll in Medicare once they reach age 65 or become Medicare eligible.

LCRA’s benefits program for retirees 65 and older includes dental, vision and legal insurance.

During the benefits review window, you have two options:

  1. Keep your existing coverage.
    • If you are not making changes to your current coverage, no action is needed.
    • Your current benefits selections will auto-renew for 2027.
  1. Make a change or drop coverage.
    • Complete this form and send it back to the LCRA Benefits Team, postmarked no later than Oct. 30, 2026.
    • If you miss this deadline, your current benefit elections will carry forward to next year at the 2027 premiums.
    • Remember: If you drop coverage or remove a dependent or spouse from any plan, you will not be able to add coverage back in future years.

Medical and prescription insurance

There are many Medicare Supplement plan providers in the marketplace to choose from. If you wish to consider a UnitedHealthcare Medicare solution, refer to the enrollment packet from UHC or contact them at 877-791-9964 for assistance with enrollment and supplemental plans.

If you are eligible to receive the retiree reimbursement, you must participate in a UHC Medicare solution. LCRA will contribute to Retiree Reimbursement Accounts (RRAs) for those eligible to participate at the following rates in 2027: up to $200 each month for a participating retiree and up to $150 each month for a participating spouse. For assistance with the UHC RRA, call 877-298-2305 or visit your UHC RRA member portal.

Dental insurance

Dental insurance through MetLife provides you and your dependents coverage for routine cleanings and other dental services.

Review plan coverage

View a summary of the plan benefits. The calendar year maximum benefit per person is $2,000.

If you use an out-of-network provider, you will pay more out-of-pocket since those providers do not have negotiated rates with MetLife. Search in-network providers on the PDP Plus network.

How to access your MetLife information

Learn how to view and print your MetLife member ID. Your dentist will call MetLife to verify dental coverage.

Dental information is also available through the MetLife mobile app to keep track of claims, retrieve electronic ID cards and more.

Vision insurance

Vision insurance through EyeMed includes coverage for eye exams, frames, lenses and contacts. Two plans are available.

Standard plan

The standard plan offers a maximum frames allowance of $125 every other calendar year and eye glass lenses once each calendar year. If you choose contact lenses in lieu of eye glass lenses and frames, the maximum benefit is $120 per calendar year. Participants pay a $10 copay for an eye exam once each calendar year.

Enhanced plan

The enhanced plan offers a maximum allowance of $150 each calendar year for either eye glass lenses and frames or contact lenses. Participants pay a $0 copay for an eye exam once each calendar year.

How to access your EyeMed information

You won’t receive a vision insurance ID card. Your optometrist will call EyeMed to verify coverage.

EyeMed’s Member Web offers benefit breakdowns, savings snapshots, a cost estimator and a detailed eye doctor search. You can also find information on Lasik and hearing benefits. Find your coverage information on-the-go with the EyeMed mobile app.

Prepaid legal plan

ARAG (access code: 18181ret) offers two prepaid legal plans, Ultimate Advisor and Ultimate Advisor Plus. Both give you access to a national network of credentialed lawyers to choose from.

How these plans work

Most covered legal matters are 100-percent paid-in-full when you work with an in-network attorney. The plans also offer access to legal databases and other online and over-the-phone legal resources.

The Ultimate Advisor Plus plan also includes comprehensive identity theft coverage, financial counseling, divorce representation and resources to help you with caregiving and eldercare issues.
