Water-related rules and regulations

LCRA is accepting public comments on a proposed change to its firm water rate.

  • Proposed rate increase: from $165 to $175 per acre-foot.
  • Impacts customers such as municipalities, industries, temporary water users and lakeside residential domestic users that purchase water from the Highland Lakes or the lower Colorado River through firm water supply contracts with LCRA.
  • Driven by increased costs associated with maintaining existing and building new water infrastructure. Over the next five years, LCRA plans to spend about $153 million on new water supply projects and about $30 million on dam rehabilitation projects. See LCRA’s FY 2027 Business and Capital Plans.

The LCRA Board of Directors will consider the proposed rate change at its Sept. 23 meeting. If approved, the new rate will take effect with the January billing period.

Comments may be submitted through Tuesday, Sept. 1.
