Wow! What an incredibly wet May it has been for the majority of Texas! From the Panhandle to the Rio Grande Valley and east to the Louisiana border, waves of rain showers and thunderstorms over the course of the month have brought copious amounts of rain. Totals have ranged from 2-4 inches across the Panhandle to 8 to 12 inches across the coastal plains. The highest totals to date have occurred along the middle Texas coast near Victoria, with amounts over more than 20 inches. Another area of 20 inch plus totals has occurred across East Texas, the east of Lufkin.

Rainfall at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport through May 25th has been 4.80 inches. This is 0.70 inches above normal. The new 1991-2020 normal May rainfall is 5.00 inches.
