HALLETTSVILLE, Texas – The Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture soon will replace its outdated electronic marquee with a modern, high-visibility digital display, thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of Hallettsville.
The Community Development Partnership Program grant, along with more than $13,000 in matching funds from the chamber, will enable the organization to purchase the new marquee for its visitor center, enhancing communication and engagement in the community by delivering timely updates on local events, public announcements and business promotions.
Jennifer Hagan, executive director of the Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, said this grant is pivotal for the chamber’s efforts to modernize its communication strategies.
“With this upgrade, we’ll be able to reach people in real time, share what’s happening around town and help local businesses get the visibility they deserve,” Hagan said. “It’s a major step toward creating a more informed, engaged and vibrant community.”
Hagan said the upgraded marquee also will support economic growth and promote Hallettsville as a more welcoming destination for both residents and visitors.
“Without this grant, replacing our outdated marquee would have remained out of reach for the chamber,” Hagan said. “We would have continued relying on an obsolete tool that limited how effectively we could inform the public, promote events and support our local businesses. This upgrade allows us to better connect with residents, attract tourists and boost the local economy by shining a brighter spotlight on all that Hallettsville has to offer.”
The community grant is one of 45 grants awarded recently through LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program, which helps volunteer fire departments, local governments, emergency responders and nonprofit organizations fund eligible capital improvement projects in LCRA’s wholesale electric, water and transmission service areas. The program is part of LCRA’s effort to give back to the communities it serves. The City of Hallettsville is one of LCRA’s wholesale electric customers and is a partner in the grant program.
