Stay safe while visiting the Highland Lakes during the eclipse

Our region is currently in a serious drought and many boat ramps are closed on lakes Buchanan and Travis. Check the public boat ramp page for more information.

The Lower Colorado River Authority urges everyone to keep safety as a top priority. Please follow these safety precautions:

Stay away from restricted areas, including dams and other critical infrastructure. Watch for warning and no trespassing signs.

Driving and camping are prohibited in dry lakebeds. Avoid these areas to stay safe and protect our water quality.

Swimming and boating in a lake carries risks. Uneven surfaces and sudden drop offs in the Highland Lakes can create hidden hazards. The lakes are non-chlorinated natural bodies of water. Cover your nose when jumping into the water to reduce exposure.
