Step-by-step process to obtain approval for continued use at an on-site sewage facility

1. Reinspection application process

A complete application will include: application requesting reinspection; copy of Multiple Listing Service (MLS); floor plan of all structures showing all rooms with their intended uses; dimensions of each room; location of all closets in each room; and interior heated/cooled square footage.

2. Application processing and application fee
After the application is accepted, the application fee will be posted to the project and may be paid online with a credit card or debit card. The fee can also be paid by check by mailing the check to the OSSF Program in Austin. Processing of the application will not begin until the application fee has been paid.

Processing may take up to three business days. You may be contacted during this time if additional information is needed.

3. Inspection Line
Once the paperwork has been processed and the property has been prepared as indicated on the preparation checklist, please call the LCRA OSSF inspection line at 512-578-4091 to leave a message to request the re-inspection. An LCRA inspector will call the designated contact between 7:30-8:30 a.m. the day of the inspection with an appointment time.

If it’s possible an inspector needs help in locating your property for the reinspection, post a notice visible from the roadway listing the owner’s name and property description.

4. Inspection process
If the OSSF is approved, the reinspection report, an approval letter, and a blank application (Form 1100) will be generated at the time of the inspection. If the OSSF was not approved, contact a licensed installer to make the necessary corrections or apply for a construction permit to install a new OSSF.

5. Approval for continued use process
Once the OSSF is approved, the blank application (Form 1100) given to the new owner should be completed, signed and submitted to LCRA at [email protected] or by mail at LCRA, PO Box 220-L110, Austin, TX 78767.
