McKinney Roughs Nature Park

Just east of Austin, McKinney Roughs Nature Park has 1,100 acres of pine forests and box canyons where your child can experience outdoor adventures at weekly summer camps.

Summer Camp – ages 5-14

Children ages 5-12 can attend up to seven weeks of day camp starting June 12.

Children ages 11-14 can attend four weeks of master camps, designed for in-depth experiences into specialized outdoor interests. Campers will take a deep dive into different outdoor themes to grow their knowledge and skills while often getting individual instruction.

Single or multi-day camps are available for one week for children to explore different outdoors themes without a week-long commitment.

Camps are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with each week’s camp activities revolving around a different outdoor theme.

  • Turtle Camp (ages 5-6)
  • Buffalo Camp (ages 7-8)
  • Eagle Camp (ages 9-12)
  • Master Camp (ages 11-14)
Optional shuttle service

For a $75 fee per week or $30 fee per day, a shuttle service is available at two convenient locations in Austin, Texas:

Full payment is required at the time of registration. Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards are accepted. Standard camps are $275 per week. Master camps are $500 per week. Single/multi-day camps are $150 per day.
Camp installment plan

Anyone registering for four or more sessions may place a 50 percent deposit at the time of registration and pay the remaining balance by May 15. You must register for this option by calling 512-303-5073. If the remaining balance is not paid by May 15, the registration will be canceled and the deposit will be forfeited.

Camp cancellation policy

No refunds will be given for cancellations after May 15. For cancellations made on or before May 15, your tuition will be refunded minus a $35 processing fee for each camp session canceled. Cancellations should be made by emailing [email protected]​. Include the camper’s name and session(s) you wish to cancel. A confirmation email will be sent to you after the refund is processed.

Session transfers

After registration is complete, campers may transfer to a different session by paying a $10 transfer fee. Email [email protected] to request a transfer. Include the camper’s name and session(s) to which you want to transfer. We will do our best to accommodate transfers. You will receive an email notifying you of the status of your request.

Matagorda Bay Nature Park

Just south of Bay City, Matagorda Bay Nature Park has miles of both beach and river access where your child can experience outdoor adventures at weekly summer camps.

Summer Camp – ages 5-16

Children ages 5-16 can attend up to six weeks of day camp starting June 12.

Two of our weeks offer single or multi-day camp options for children to explore different outdoors themes without a week-long commitment.

Camps are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with each week’s camp activities revolving around a different outdoor theme.

  • Turtle Camp (ages 7-8)
  • Whale Camp (ages 9-12)
  • Shark Camp (ages 13-16)
Optional complimentary shuttle service

For no additional cost, a shuttle service is available at four convenient locations in Matagorda County:

Just west of Austin, Nightengale Archaeological Center resides on Lake LBJ where your child can explore the water and learn about the park’s historical artifacts.
